Prophetic Word for July 2023
Jun 14, 2023It’s Time to Quit
By: Amber Picota
Some would say that the way to succeed is to never quit. However the truly wise person knows that the way to succeed is to know when to quit.
God is calling me (and I believe this is a prophetic word for many others) to burn some bridges and quit. It’s time to quit doing the things that are taking you further away from your calling, your dreams, and your goals.
In order to say yes to what God has called you to do in this season, you are going to have to say no to some other things.
There are some relationships, activities, distractions, and/or bad habits that God is calling you to quit… if you’re going to grow, prosper, and break through to the good things God has called you to in this season.
In order to know what to quit, you have to get a clear vision of your DESTINATION. If you are pursuing an increase in your finances, then God may be calling you to quit the things that are prohibiting you from that. For a friend of mine, it literally meant quitting her job. She realized that there was a cap on how high she could earn and achieve in that job, so she began looking for something better. She could not move on without quitting. Quitting brought her closer to what she had been praying for.
What is the vision of your destination that God is calling you to prophetically in this season?
I just went through a season where God was calling me to inner healing. In order to prioritize that vision of spiritual and emotional health, I felt the Holy Spirit nudging me to quit some things. I quit going around people who stressed me out and created drama. I quit participating in situations that felt emotionally unsafe. I quit pursuing friendships with people who were unsafe.
What is God calling you to right now?
What are your goals?
What is your vision?
What is it that you’ve been praying for?
Once you have those answers, it is time for you to sit with the Holy Spirit and decide what you need to quit in order to pursue that.
Hebrews 12:1-2 ….let us also lay aside every encumbrance (a burden or impediment) and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus…
This verse is talking about the big picture, living our lives in a way that allows us to keep going in order to run our race, which represents living a life of purpose.
Notice how this passage mentions endurance, and quitting. We must lay aside burdens and hindrances so that we can pursue what matters. Burdens and hindrances aren’t always sins, and aren’t always inherently bad. Not everything is for every season. Maybe the commitments you made in the past need to be reconsidered. Maybe those were for that season, but are now holding you back from the goals and dreams that God has placed in your heart.
In His Love,
