A Collision That Changed My Life

"It will come about after this That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and daughters will prophesy, Your old men will dream dreams, Your young men will see visions. Even on the male and female servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days." -Joel 2:28-29

When I was a youth pastor, I went to a youth conference hosted by Pastor Daniel Norris called Collision. I didn't know what I was getting myself into. I took my youth group and little did I know that my life would be forever changed. I had no idea of the encounter that awaited me... 

"As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire." -Matthew 3:11

Until that moment, I had experienced God in the context of what I thought He was to be experienced in an Assembly of God Church. I spoke in tongues, believed in healings, salvation, but I knew there had to be more. I was so hungry and I wanted more of God's power and presence. I was desperate for more. 

I remember understanding the theme of the conference and I realized that my life would be forever branded by God's fire.  A collision occurred that evening as I was standing in the presence of God worshiping. The Spirit of God was falling on dozens of teenagers. There were laying on the ground weeping. Tears of repentance were flowing freely. Lives were being transformed right before my eyes.  I remember asking Holy Spirit for more. I remember whispering to Him, "I yield to anything and everything you want to accomplish through my life." 

Then my friend Pastor Daniel prayed for me. He placed his hand on my chest and I felt a collision inside me. Everything that I knew about God, church, religion, the Holy Spirit was forever changed. I knew about revival and I had seen and been in these meetings but I needed to experience God in a new way. I needed an encounter that would set me ablaze and set me free from everything I was struggling with. I didn't want to keep on being lukewarm about my faith and playing games.  

"When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them." -Acts 2:1-4

God's fire consumed me that day. I remember laying on the floor, praying in tongues, crying uncontrollably, and praise flowed from my lips. It was a moment of pure heavenly bliss. I was beholding Him. I felt the power of God. Like waves of electricity, His power washed over me. I felt undone in His presence. I couldn't help but give in to His irresistible joy and peace. 

Holy Spirit came to me and He showed me that He cared about me. He comforted me and began to heal my heart. He affirmed me with His love. Since that day He has always been close to me. His presence manifests when I minister. Miracles take place. People get saved. The Lord moves powerfully. But He doesn't want to just flow through me. He is looking for those who are open and available. He has chosen us as His children to be those who release Heaven on Earth. It's because of the presence and anointing of the Holy Spirit that we can lead others into an encounter with God. It happens through worship. When you worship with a heart that is abandoned to Him your life will change. God wants all of you. You can't hold back if you want to truly encounter Him like He longs for you too. 

"Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." -Acts 2:38

Today the Holy Spirit is calling you. He is saying, "I am here my child. I am the Resurrection and the Life. I want to appear Myself to you today in a way you never have encountered me before. I want there to be a collision between Heaven and your world."

Maybe you are disappointed with church, with pastors, even with God. Maybe you prayed and nothing changed. Maybe you used to be in love with God but things happened and now you are disappointed, discouraged, and angry. Maybe you had a bad church experience or were hurt by a person who misrepresented God's heart to you. Forgive them.  The Holy Spirit is calling you today. Return to the Lord with all your heart. He longs for there to be a collision where everything in your life crashes with God's Kingdom and you are forever changed. You will never be the same. Pray with me this dangerous prayer and mean it if you want all of God: 

"Holy Spirit, today I surrender my life to Jesus Christ. I am done running. I make a fresh decision to follow hard after You. I give you my life. I receive forgiveness for my sins and I release forgiveness to those who have hurt me and betrayed me. Heal my heart. Show me Your truth. Break every addiction. Flood my life with your power and presence so that I will never ever be the same. Touch me now. I am drawing near to you with all I am. In Jesus name Amen"

"He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit "-Titus 3:15
